Knowledge is power, we've all heard it before. Yet to what extent this power exudes is not definite. One might know everything there is to know about English, but when a math test is proposed, they flunk in the worst way possible. It takes a man like Isaac Asimov, who chooses to be knowledgeable in all things, to be truly aware of the concept of knowledge.
We all have a certain area in which our knowledge is greater than most, whether we realize it or not. Some master science while others master art, and still others master the ability to recite the first 1,000 digits of pi. Whatever the skill, there will always be someone more knowledgeable than yourself. For whatever reason, our brains all function both similarly as well as differently than one another.
When our brains combine, that is when we are able to connect knowledge of all things. Whether certain subjects interest us or not, it is important to at least be somewhat aware of them so as to explore various ideas with an open, ready mind. Learning is not about accepting all things, but rather understanding them so that we can grow as people and become more good, for the lack of a better term. With this attained knowledge, we can enlighten our peers and our future leaders. If only we all could readily learn and retain the knowledge that Asimov is able to, the world would be a much more engaged, connected place.
