Hamlet Act I Scene iii

-Laertes is Polonius' son, Ophelia is his sister
-Hamlet is affectionate for Ophelia, "a toy in blood" is passion
-His love feels good but isn't a good idea
-Laretes warns Ophelia that Hamlet is thinking only of his sexual desires and not of Ophelia's actual feelings
-He doesn't want Hamlet and Ophelia to be together because she is his sister and he is protective over her, especially because Hamlet is royalty
-What Hamlet says as a politician, Ophelia will only understand as a lover
-Ophelia takes Laretes advice but not completely; talks of how he should take his own advice and not be a hypocrite
-Laertes gives advice to Ophelia, Lord Polonius gives advice to Laertes (family of advice givers)
-Cautel: to caution
-Polonius wants Laertes to be independent and not say anything that will get him into trouble; be loyal but choose quality over quantity when it comes to friendships
